A fascinating one-of-a-kind artwork telling the story of a Victorian adventurer and the items he needed on his travels
The story for this Curiosity Collection formed in my mind when I found a little photograph of a woman looking wistfully and longingly at the camera, and I wondered, why? Maybe she was missing her love, but where was he? What great adventure had taken him away from her and when would he return?
This original Curious Collection consists of vintage objects including a horsehair brush, quill, map reader and ruler, travel compass, and a pair of compasses. Chess pieces, a watch key, a specimen vile, and objects from his travels – a shell and a tiny elephant trinket. Plus, of course, the picture of his wife which he carries with him always.
Would look fantastic as a stand-alone artwork or part of a gallery wall to add intrigue and texture. A perfect gift for someone with a love of antique objects, storytelling, and a passion for collecting unique artworks.
All our Curiosity Collections are made with a little impact on the planet as possible. This artwork is handmade using found vintage objects – saving them from landfill – beautifully mounted on museum archive style linen and professionally framed with FSC certified wood in a walnut finish.
