Article: TO BLOG OR NOT TO BLOG?

TO BLOG OR NOT TO BLOG?

TO BLOG OR NOT TO BLOG?

Writing a blog is a new venture for me, I have been going back and forth on whether to start this for literally a year, but – spurred on by the ever inspiring ladies in my mentoring group I’m doing it. I’m still pretty nervous. Nervous that you won’t find what I have to say interesting or useful. Nervous I’ll make a spelling mistake and look a little silly, but (deep breath) I’m being brave and taking inspiration from this much used Zig Ziglar quote:

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”.

What the hell am I going to write about? Well in the interest of keeping myself motivated, quite simply, things that I am passionate about and want to share. Things like:

  • Behind the scenes – you’ll find lots more information on my business here, my working process and the exciting places I go (when we are allowed again) and what I get up to.

  • Stories – I would love to share the stories behind the Memory Boxes I create out of my customer’s personal keepsakes here, as it’s celebrating the stories, memories and people these special items represent that really excites me and why I started my business.

  • Research – when I find exciting new antique objects on my travels around charity shops, antiques fairs, boot sales I like to know where they come from. What was their purpose? Who made them and why? And I figure if I find this interesting maybe some of you will too. This is going to be called ‘What’s this item?’ and I have a very special object to start with, the first antique I was ever bought.

  • New Experiences – I have set myself a couple of goals this year and one of them is to start mudlarking along the Thames. I plan on documenting my experience here and (fingers crossed) the history of the objects I find.

So however you have come across my humble blog… welcome and I hope this little introduction has piqued your interest. You can also find me on Instagram @pippakatedesign and can subscribe to my newsletter (below) to be the first to hear about new products and get priority access to keepsake sales. Plus, 10% off your first order.

Pip x

I love nothing more than rummaging around antique fairs, charity shops, and boot sales hunting for forgotten vintage treasures. I’m so excited to share a little bit more about myself and my busines...
